How to build a stellar relationship with your estate agent

How to build a stellar relationship with your estate agent

At Mishon Mackay we’re really proud to offer excellent customer service and we really mean it. We know how stressful buying or selling your home can be, which is why we pride ourselves on being there every step of the way. In this article we illustrate how building relationships with our clients is at the heart of what we do.

Whether we’re driving around Sussex in the snow to get documents signed, or driving to Guildford on Friday nights just to make sure our vendors don’t have to wait another day to exchange, we’re well versed in going above and beyond for our clients.

This month we sat down with Dee and Felix from our Brighton office and asked them to share their top tips for prospective buyers and sellers about how to build the very best relationships.

Dee, Felix, it’s great to sit down with you and reflect on such brilliant feedback from your clients.

Dee: Thanks so much! It’s always nice to receive such great feedback and I’m always happy to see sales complete, happy buyers, and happy sellers!

Felix: It’s been so busy these past few months and the reviews are testament to Dee’s hard work and her perseverance to move sales along.

We know just how stressful moving house can be for all parties involved, what are your top tips to those looking to sell?

Felix: I’ll kick off with an easy one. Choose your estate agent well! Obviously we’re biased here at Mishon Mackay but it really can make or break your sale working with the right agent. You need to find someone that you can easily build rapport with. After all, you’re going to be speaking to these people a lot over the coming months.

Dee: I completely agree. And for us, as estate agents, it makes everything so much easier when we have a great relationship with our sellers. Take time to make sure you’re dealing with someone that has excellent local knowledge, that is pricing your home correctly, and has a strong marketing offer that can make sure your home sells for the right price, to the right buyer

Felix: Our other top tip would definitely be to work with a great, professional solicitor. They can help spot problems, find solutions, ensure everything’s running smoothly and move things along when needed. We know it can be tempting to go with the cheapest option out there, but trust us, when you work with a professional firm, you’ll notice the additional expertise they bring and how much impact this can make. At Mishon Mackay we work hand-in-hand with Taylor Rose MW who have extensive local knowledge and are always on available to help.

Let’s talk about people selling their home, how can they help you?

Felix: We’re big believers in open, honest lines of communication. It’s cliché but it really is key to a great relationship. The more we get to know our sellers and understand their challenges and pain points, the more we can help them.

Dee: Absolutely! We work really hard to give all our clients the same level of excellent service but when we know the circumstances and other key information, it can help us find solutions before problems even arise. I recently helped sell a flat at Cavendish Court that had many bumps in the road but we had a great relationship with the seller and so it was easy to talk to them and a pleasure to deal with them – that makes a huge difference.
