Putting Customers First: How Mishon Mackay Stand Out from Other Estate Agents

Angela Farthing, Managing Director at Mishon Mackay, explains why Mishon Mackay stand out from other agents’ services.

“Since 1987, when Mishon Mackay were established in business, I have been a buyer, a seller, and a landlord of property, and have experienced various levels of service, both good and bad from various estate and lettings agents.

Having been in the shoes of a customer, the worst experience I had was when selling my second property in 2002. At the time, my house was on the market following the tragic and unexpected loss of my partner. The agent I instructed initially to sell my house promised me that they could sell my home quickly and at an above expectations value with no recommendations to make the property more saleable to achieve that price.

Time came and went, and still no sale, so I asked for a second agent to market the property in tandem with the other. Eventually it sold with agent two, following some minor cosmetic improvements recommended by that agent.

Shortly after agent two agreed the sale, I was then pursued quite aggressively for a fee from agent one who were claiming they had introduced the buyer on a previous viewing, something that can sometimes legally occur if it can be proven the first agent was effective in achieving the sale. The buyer had clearly indicated they wanted to transact with agent two. This proved a particularly stressful and very upsetting time, facing the prospect of having to pay two agents’ fees, at a time when I was going through a grieving process.

It felt at the time that agent one never really understood my situation or motivation for moving and demonstrated no sympathy for the situation I was in, their fee proved more important than the experience I was going through. This customer experience has always stuck with me. It has also resonated recently that if other customers have similar encounters it is no wonder why the public tend to have a poor view of estate agents.

So, when I took up the post of Managing Director here at Mishon Mackay, it was my mission to ensure that we continued our legacy of putting our customers’ experience at the heart of everything we do. Understanding the reasons why our customers need to move is core to us being able to provide an honest assessment of value and timescales for our clients in achieving a successful sale.”

The culture within Mishon Mackay is one where we put our people first. For customers, that means creating a bespoke approach to each client’s individual requirements to achieve the best outcome for them. Our teams across the city and mid-Sussex are dedicated to work and support each other to ensure our clients achieve the best result. Whether you are moving from outside the area into the city, or moving out of the city to a more rural location, each of our staff work tirelessly across the network to find you the right buyer.

Our promise is to always give an honest valuation based on our local knowledge and expertise on what prices are achieving in their area and to be realistic on timescales based on market conditions, the type of sale, the length of the sales chain, or any other observations.

We will offer reliable advice on what marketing, in our experience, will work best to attract the most interest and ensure that we provide the right level of communication and guidance throughout the sales process to make the experience as stress free as possible.

At Mishon Mackay, each member of staff is invested in going the extra mile to help our clients realise their goals. Our customer reviews, found on Google and Trustpilot, play testament to the levels of service our staff provide for our clients. Our staff take pride in the service they provide, and this review is just one of many that epitomises that for which we strive:

“Josh, Felix and Dee were polite, humorous and efficient. They gave honest opinions throughout the whole process. We were in a mini chain of four properties and Josh was the most active agent in the chain pushing lawyers and vendors to keep the process moving.

The chain fell apart when my father died. The team at Mishon Mackay were very sympathetic and supportive. They helped to keep my parents offer alive and several months later my mother is moving into a beautiful flat in Brighton Kemptown. Dee helped greatly in the last phase, especially making my mother feel at home in Brighton.”

So, what makes us different? Well, I hope this article goes someway to explaining that. At Mishon Mackay, each member of staff is invested in making your experience seamless and as stress free as possible. That means sometimes going above and beyond what you might expect of an estate agent. From helping a recently bereaved widow decorate her flat, to driving a signed contract 30 miles away so a client could exchange that day, the staff at Mishon Mackay will put your experience with us at the very heart of what they do.
