Spring into action this May – how the property market is performing here in Sussex
As we begin the month of May we asked our Co-Founder & Owner, Alex Mackay, for his view on the current local property market:
“As we run into our first May bank holiday, the property market Is performing well. Since the beginning of the year we have been very pleased with results, allowing many of our clients to move home. Yes, to be fair, we do have a backlog of sales as the whole process seems to have slowed from what traditionally used to be a 12 week process to 16/18. The reason for this is that the new restrictions involved in the process of establishing proof of funds and identity can sometimes take weeks! Not always, of course, as there are exceptions, but it has become far more normal for process to take 4+ months.
Anyway, all in all a much improved market with optimism high with both buyers and sales in good numbers. So if this late spring/early summer is a period you choose for a move, then my advice would be to get on with it now! There's a good mix of properties on our books so now is a good time to choose your new home.
One thing we are lacking is a bit of good weather. Let's hope that changes too, and soon. Happy Bank Holiday weekend everyone!”
